Muay Thai showcase in Europe

The WBC Muaythai organisation will be red hot in Europe this September with world titles being staged in London and Copenhagen.

The world light heavyweight title contest in Denmark scheduled for September 2 sees a sensational match-up between Denmark's Bassam Chahrour and Sweden's Markus Oberg.

"This is a very big fight as both fighters have something to prove and winning the WBC Muaythai world title in the light heavyweight division is massive," said promoter Brain Talarek.

Chahrour (21) has won 33 of his fights - 19 by knockout. Oberg has won 14 of 16 contests - five by knockout.

On September 17 in London promoters United as One will stage a WBC Muaythai world title as well as two international championships on the same super card.

In what has become one of the most talked about contests on the WBC Muaythai calendar for 2006, European and UK superstar Kieran Keddle will fight Thai superstar Danthai for the WBC super lightweight title.

Keddle has fought and trained in Thailand and has overcome all challengers in Europe, while Danthai is a main event fighter at Bangkok's Lumpinee and Rajadamnoen stadiums, and is the top ranked star on the Thai Channel 7 Sunday fight program.

United as One promoter Nash Keshwala said the Danthai/Keddle match-up between two of the hottest fighters from Europe and Thailand had created "a big buzz of excitement in London".

"You look at the fight history of Danthai and Keddle. They're at their peak and they are set to fight for a WBC world title belt. It's a very big championship and, consequently, there's enormous interest," said Keshwala.

The London event will also feature two WBC international championships.

England's Dale White will be challenged by Sergey Skiba of Belarus for the WBC Muaythai super flyweight international title.

The second international contest for the WBC Muaythai cruiserweight championship will be an enthralling showdown between London's talented Andre McIntyre and the Japanese warrior Magnum Sakai.
