Strikeforce Gym

Strikeforce Gym began way back in 1988 in a high school hall on the Gold Coast. By 1990 we had our own gym facilities established and had secured a sponsorship deal with a Nightclub, with all the fighters wearing embroidered tracksuits and pants.

In 1993 Aaron Warner and myself started venturing to Thailand to a camp north of Bangkok in Kanchanaburi. The camp was called Thai Rung Rehia. This camp had been recommended to us by a Thai friend, Tim Dahmajiva. For 4 years we went there to train and fought up country. Everything we learnt, we either wrote in a journal or videotaped.

Then in 1998, after Jongsanan "Woodenman" Fairtex had used our gym in 1996, Ben “Pixie” Burton and Dru Livingstone were invited stay and train at the home of Jongsanan , the legendary Fairtex Camp in Bangkok. The boys jumped at the chance and trained there for 2 months. While there they also made the complete back page of the Bangkok Post with pictures and an interview. Ben fought at Rajadamnern and Dru at Samarong. So for the next three years we trained and fought from Fairtex when we were there.

In 2002 we began bringing a trainer/fighter over from Eminent Air Gym in Bangkok to boost our knowledge and develop our fighters. So in 2003 Aaron "TS2" Leigh traveled to Eminent Air to train and fight, and we have been training there ever since.

So as you can see, we are always striving to learn more – that is why we still go. In 2001 we moved our gym to its’ present location at 35 Rawlinna Drive Mermaid Waters

BJC Muay Thai

BJC Muay Thai is one of the fastest and easiest sports to learn in the world.

With that in mind, the syllabus has been structured and formatted in such a way to provide a gradual progression through the 3 colour singlets (i.e. Blue, Green & Brown) before the student obtains their Black singlet.

As well as self-defence, the system also encourages many to take on their training for the purpose of competition.

The skills training has been refined to emphasise the systems unique footwork and also explosive power. This has led to the development of many set drills, which are also intended to progress at a gradual rate for the development of technique and physical fitness.

Body conditioning is also a major necessity for the potential competitor and the addition of plyometrics principals has become both a training drill and tested requirement.
